We are entering an era of precision medicine where prevention and treatment of disease will be tailored to the genetics, lifestyle and environment of the individual. Traditional divisions between translational medicine, pre-clinical and clinical medicine do not apply anymore …
They are interwoven and feedback into each other constantly. Traditional divisions of physicians, nurses and allied health professionals also need to be rethought. Silo medical specialities focusing on one organ or one group of diseases are also less useful in this context.
Health professionals need to cast their nets wider than their traditional networks permit. Interdisciplinary education, collaboration and research are key to this holistic approach and new era in healthcare. HealthProMatch is a step in that direction, bringing together different types of health professionals from different regions and specialities thus jumpstarting true interdisciplinary leaps in patient-centred care.

There is so much to learn from each other and our different systems: The world has a global healthcare workforce and yet senior health professionals often sit in one department within one institution for years, relying on conversations in corridors, courses, conferences and of course, the internet, for continuing professional development, innovation and improvement. Physicians, Surgeons, Nurses, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Digital health experts and Industry need to sit in one room more often, and this ideally starts with interdisciplinary education.
However, we need to be empowered and engaged to do this. As I communicate with my colleagues globally, it has become more apparent that we are all feeling extreme pressures at work and burnout and apathy are rife. The need for a more solid peer-led support group is undeniable. Many of us have never felt this frustrated and fed up. We need to help ourselves because no one else will! Healthpromatch (HPM) has been designed for senior health professionals by senior health professionals to address these very needs. A Gift from us to us. It calls upon every aspect of the word “MATCH”: HPM allows us to find help and like-minded colleagues for clinical and academic projects, coaching, job sabbaticals/exchanges or just simply to connect.
HPM is also an educational portal. We host CME approved in person, hybrid and webinar events. We focus on interdisciplinary education and bring together health professionals who traditionally might not come together. Our other key unique differentiator is that you can continue to network with speakers and participants indefinitely after the event via our matching and messaging portal.
