Simply sign up, create your user profile, and answer the match questions. Decide what you want to be matched for and let HPM do the hard work and suggest matches for you. You can contact other users, create groups, or post to a wider audience within the secure HPM platform. All of this within a few fun clicks…… 

• Projects  (HPM-P): Find partners for projects and ideas so that you are empowered to make changes together and not scratch your head alone. Why not team up with another department/trust and double your resources and the impact of your QI work? It is time to end silo-working and duplication of effort. HPM asks you to provide a brief streamlined description of your project(s) and your expertise. HPM uses internal and external database discovery engines to match you for collaboration and support on any idea. 

• Mentorship (HPM-M):  Everyone should have a mentor and/or coach and aspire to mentor/coach! HPM can match potential mentors/coaches to mentees/’coaches’ through a series of simple questions based on your professional and personal needs/strengths and interests. • Sabbaticals/Swaps/Jobs (HPM-S): What would it be like to work somewhere else for a while? What could you bring back? Or are you actually looking for a job? HPM will ask you whether you are looking for a sabbatical, exchange, temporary, or permanent job and then query any preferences for sub-specialties, locations, and institution types. Based on all these inputs, HPM’s recommendation engine then provides you with job listings, institutions open to sabbaticals, or matched HPM users for exchange. This platform is far more than a job noticeboard. HPM is creating job mobility and flexibility.

Working in a different institution either as a sabbatical, locum post, or as part of a job swap can provide a much-needed personal and professional adventure. It can also inspire deep critical reflection and a re-discovery/appreciation of the values of their own institution. Why not try a short-term swap with a matched colleague via HPM? There is so much to learn from each other and our institutional cultures, and nothing quite as profound as stepping in someone else’s shoes to inspire deep self-reflection and learning. This is something we regularly do as trainees. The added bonus of exchanges is that service provision and commitments are not disturbed on either side. One-way sabbatical or two–way swap?
